The Position
The Chief Executive Officer works closely with the Mayor and Councillors to provide strategic leadership and ensure the effective operation of Central Highlands Regional Council. As the organisation’s most senior executive, the CEO is responsible for driving organisational performance, delivering Council’s strategic priorities and ensuring sustainable, efficient and community-focused service delivery. Leading and empowering the Executive Leadership Team, the CEO will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and service excellence, while upholding high standards of governance, transparency and ethical leadership. The role also ensures compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements and provides strong stewardship of Council’s people, resources and long-term objectives.
About You
Council is seeking an authentic, community-minded and visionary leader with a strong understanding of the local government environment. As a trusted advisor to the Mayor and Councillors, you will bring professionalism, credibility and strategic leadership. You will inspire high-performing teams, foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and innovation, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of staff and the community.
You will bring
Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, management, finance, communications or a related discipline are essential.
A strategic mindset with the ability to align people, projects and resources to long-term organisational priorities.
Strong financial management expertise, including budgeting, long-term financial planning, resource allocation and asset management.
Exceptional relationship management skills and a collaborative and inclusive leadership style
Postgraduate qualifications in management, public administration or local government studies will also be highly regarded.
Demonstrated senior leadership experience within a local government environment.

Remuneration Package up to $505,000, this includes:
Base salary component
Superannuation contributions (14.25%)

Professional membership allowance of $1,200 per year & Qantas Club Membership
