The Position

The Chief Executive Officer leads the organisation and works closely with the Mayor and Councillors to deliver Council’s strategic vision and priorities. Reporting directly to Council, the CEO will oversee all organisational operations, provide high-level strategic and governance advice, and ensure the effective delivery of services, programs and community outcomes across the Shire. The role requires a community-focused, capable and collaborative leader with strong financial management skills, commercial acumen and the ability to lead organisational performance in a complex regional local government environment. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills will be essential, along with the ability to deliver practical outcomes that align with Council’s strategic direction and community expectations.

About You

Banana Shire Council is seeking an approachable and capable leader who can build strong, trusted relationships with Councillors, staff and the community. The ideal candidate will be an open and honest communicator with strong financial management skills and the ability to advocate for the region and its priorities. They will be flexible, practical and business-minded, with a good understanding of regional communities and the opportunities and challenges they face.

What’s on offer?

Remuneration Package up to $314,000, this includes:

• Base salary component – up to $250,000

• Motor Vehicle Allowance of $33,000 (or vehicle Private Usage Category 1)

• Subsidised housing

• Superannuation contribution

• Professional membership allowance of $1000
